“Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present - and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.” - Audrey Hepburn

Ha, I almost lost my grandfather’s turqoise ring. I almost started crying in the shower when I realized. Luckily my friend grabbed them when she realized I’d leave them after I took them off while making pinch pots.

they are beautiful

Virtual Mentors

whatiwore:

WhatIWore: I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about mentors, especially after a few bright young women have asked for my guidance (which is the sort of thing you feel very honored to be asked, yet totally unqualified to fulfill). Although I don’t have a personal mentor, there are a few in the biz that I really look up to including:

Tim Gunn - I know of Mr. Gunn like most people - through watching Project Runway. What appeals to me is the way he gives honest and direct feedback. If I were on Project Runway I think I would be constantly aiming to please Tim! Make it Work!

I also have a couple of acquaintances who have personal interactions with Mr. Gunn, including looking for the best in everyone and being incredibly genuine - two qualities I aspire to!

Jack Canfield - I’m in the middle of The Success Principles and it has been like a snap in the face to WAKE UP and get busy to make my dreams come true.  I’ve used some of Mr. Canfield’s words as mantras - I love the part of The Secret where he urges us all to follow our bliss - “Put Yourself in a State of Joy!!!”  More than being just a “feel good” book, Jack tells us to be clear and direct with our goals and go for them.

Clinton Kelly - I’ve been watching What Not To Wear for years and am a huge fan. Although at the beginning of the show the hosts (Mr. Kelly and Stacy London) poke fun at the seriously bad closets of their subjects, by the end of the program, the guests walk away feeling good about themselves. Anyone who watches knows the clothes are  only a fraction of the reason the guests leave with so much confidence.  I really admire Clinton’s direct, quirky and tailored guidance.

Although I’ve never met any of these men face to face, I really look up to what they have achieved and how so much of their work is based on making people feel good about themselves, even if (in the case of Tim and Clinton) it has to do with clothing or external appearances.

Note: There’s nothing wrong with feeling good about yourself! Even if it has to do with what you’re wearing!!

Do you have a real life or virtual mentor?

i’ve become a fan of this ladies style… and she’s right about Tim.

*I love dressing up… And am typically “overdressed” for bars and house parties. BAH.

Beer, Beer!

muppetpants:

beerbeer:

One can actively or passively enjoy many things.  There is a fundamental difference between those who listen to Lady Gaga as background music or focus and analyze Frank Zappa with a pair of headphones.  Many read Dan Brown on the subway, others read classic literature in an armchair.  There’s nothing inherently wrong with passive consumption or mainstream commodities, but some people strive to take a closer look at these commodities as a form of expression.

There’s nothing wrong with drinking Coors Light from a silo cup.  I’m willing to bet most of those who have the disposable income to enjoy craft brews went to college and may have chugged a few silo cups of Bud—and enjoyed it.  I’m using this blog to track my tasting notes and thoughts on beer.

This, over here, is me.

it’s about time.
